As you may have read by now, Apple has introduced the latest version of their mobile OS: iOS 8. There are mixed reactions to what Apple has let us know about iOS 8’s new features; some have been disappointed, while others are more than excited to get a feel for what’s ahead for their iDevices, even if they won’t get to use the new features until this fall.
In the meantime, here are six key features of iOS 8 that all of us should be looking forward to.
1. iCloud Photo Library and Photo App
In iOS 8, you will now have access to all of your photos and videos anytime, anywhere. The default Photo app will come with smart editing tools and the ability to straighten horizons. And with iCloud Photo Library, any changes you make on your photos will be updated across all your iDevices.
2. New messaging feature
New features of the Messaging app will let you add or remove contacts, leave a conversation, and set an option to be not disturbed by specific group messages. You will also be able to share multiple photos and videos at once.
3. Health app
Apple is finally pushing through with its own Health app. This app will gather information from your various health apps and fitness devices to give you a clear and current overview of your health and fitness condition.
4. QuickType keyboard
Finally, Apple is introducing a smarter and more personalized predictive typing technology in iOS 8. QuickType understands the way you communicate and suggests your favorite phrases. Hence, giving you a quicker way of composing your messages.
5. Family Sharing
For those of you who use several Apple devices in your home, iOS 8 will now make it easier to share purchases, photos and calendars. Each member of your family who uses an Apple iDevice will be able to browse and download each other’s iTunes, iBooks or App Store purchases. Family Sharing allows 6 family members to use their own Apple ID and participate in family sharing.
6. iCloud Drive
iOS 8 will allow you to safely store, access and edit documents of any type across your iDevices and even Mac or Windows PC. It provides seamless access and the ability to work on the same file across various apps.
There you go, six new features that the upcoming iOS 8 will be bringing to all of us Apple iDevices owners and users. Of course there are more features than the ones we’ve enumerated. I like the family sharing since all the members of my family have their iPads; this new feature will definitely help us manage our App store purchases easily. And being the fitness buff that I am, I’m also excited about the Health app. How about you? Which of these new features are your favorite?
