screen568x568-2Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles… turtles in the half shell, Turtle Power! If you can’t hear that theme song in your head right now, your childhood may not have been as great as mine. This week’s best free iOS apps include the latest TMNT game, called Rooftop Run. It’ll have you running and fighting through New York saving the day as only a group of adolescent mutated turtles can. Revolution 60 is a new game made with the Unreal Engine. The main character, Holiday, is tasked with regaining control of an orbital weapons platform. Think you can handle that? The latest from Konami is called Swords & Poker Adventures. It’s a mix of poker and weapons. No word on whether the Konami code will help you out here. Yes, it’s a good week for free games on the App Store.

The Best Free iOS Apps:

  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Rooftop Run – Run, jump, fight, and drive your way through New York’s endless cityscape as you rid it of the Foot Clan, Kraang, Dimension X, and Baxter Stockman. You can collect energy orbs to unlock weapons, gear, and boosts that will keep you a step ahead. There’s tons of turtle fun to be had here, and if you click fast enough, you can get this app for free for a limited time. Pizza not included.
  • Revolution 60 – Here’s a fully voice acted, lovingly animated, movie length story/game. The main character is Holiday, a trained assassin, who’s controllable via intuitive gestures. The mission is to regain control of the orbital weapons platform N313. The game makes use of the Unreal Engine and touts itself as a breakthrough game for iOS, but you’ll have to be the judge of that.
  • Swords & Poker Adventures – Defeat monsters and other opponents by creating the best poker hands. It’s an addictive puzzle adventure game. There’s a deep combat system that’s easy to pick up. It’ll have you taking on your opponents by making the best 5 card poker hands from a shared board of cards. But there’s more to this game, including weapons, shields, and magic. Sound interesting?

The Other Free iOS Apps (some for a limited time):

  • EleMints: Periodic Table – Do you find yourself periodically needing elemental information? This is another Periodic Table app that looks amazing. It has element properties, a molar mass calculator, a plot graph, and much more. This might be the best looking Periodic Table app I’ve yet seen.
  • Authentic Weather – Want an honest weather assessment? This app tells it how it is. Or maybe it just likes to complain. It’s hard to tell really. But you can help this app complain about the weather by taking a picture and having it overlay some commentary to share with your friends.
  • Weblock – Do you hate distractions on the web? Well there are ways of blocking them, even on iOS. You can block ads, specific websites, user tracking, scripts, images, and popups. You can even define your own content filters. The only catch is that it only works over WiFi.
  • MIcrotrip – Here’s a physics arcade game set inside the body of a strange creature. Its unique soft-body physics and the procedural generated levels make the game different and challenging every time you play. Just dive as deep as possible into this soft bodied creature. How far can you make it?
  • Bonza Word Puzzle – Do you like crosswords, jigsaw, word search and other puzzles? This game combines elements of each to create a fresh word challenge. There are even new puzzles daily to be solved.
  • Defenders – Fight off hordes of evil mutants created by a cataclysmic event. It’s a tower defense game mixed with a collectible card game. Your towers, spells, and traps are all magical cards that you can collect and upgrade. Each battle earns you a random set of cards that makes your experience unique. The missions are even custom generated.
