Multiplayer online battle arenas (MOBAs) have been making waves in the gaming industry thanks to the immense popularity of titles such as Riot Games’ League of Legends, Valve’s Dota 2, and Blizzard Entertainment’s upcoming Heroes of the Storm.
Fates Forever is basically a smaller, simpler version of a game like League of Legends. For instance, teams have been whittled down to only three members each, instead of the usual five. Maps have only two lanes instead of three. As of now, there are only 10 playable characters to choose from, with four more to be made available soon.
Daily quests and rewards make up for this lack of variety and they help to keep things interesting.
Additionally, stats and items are less confusing to manage. Matches are also quicker, with each lasting between 10 and 15 minutes, as opposed to 45. This is perfect for the handheld gaming crowd, and for those who are always on the go.
Fates Forever is an exciting game for the casual market, but its simplicity may turn off hardcore MOBA players. At its best, it serves as a training ground for those new to the genre. The game is available now as a free download in the App Store, with in-app purchases.
