Apple to fire 200 Beats employees following acquisition

Despite earlier reports, Apple has not fired 200 Beats employees…yet. According to a report from Billboard, all employees, except for about five who were fired due to performance issues, were offered full-time jobs and are going through Apple orientation. However, a large number of employees were told their job could be eliminated within three months to a year.

The departments most affected by Apple’s acquisition center around operational infrastructure: human resources, finance, and legal.

Apple spokesman Tom Neumayr told Billboard, “We’re excited to have the Beats team join Apple, and we have extended job offers to every Beats employee. Because of some overlap in our operations, some offers are for a limited period and we’ll work hard during this time to find as many of these Beats employees as we can another permanent job within Apple.”

Apple acquired Beats on August 1st for $3 billion.
