If you’re waiting until the next iPhone is released before you upgrade, you may have your choice of three models from which you can choose. Alongside new versions of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus, Apple is reportedly returning to a smaller 4-inch iPhone that may appear on the market as the iPhone 6c. Sources along Apple’s supply chain have told Digitimes that the iPhone 6c is using an A8 chip while the other phones will use A9 chips.
Every new iPhone launching later this year is said to include NFC, Touch ID, and Corning Gorilla Glass. Japan Display and LG are the only companies working on the smaller 4-inch display for the rumored iPhone 6c. Japan Display, Sharp, and LG will work on the displays for the 4.7-inch iPhone 6c and new 5.5-inch iPhone 6 Plus.
Unlike the iPhone 5c which didn’t attract as many buyers as Apple had hoped, the iPhone 6c will be relatively inexpensive. The 5c had launched for $600, and reports claim the 6c is only going to cost between $400 and $500. In its first year, the low price point could contribute to 10-209 million unit sales, making the 6c a very popular handset in markets such as Asia and Latin America.
