UE Boom

Bluetooth speakers come in some fun colors, but if you really want a speaker that pops, Ultimate Ears has a new artist-inspired version of their UE Boom speaker. Designed by graffiti artist Greg “Craola” Simkins (who also happens to have the coolest URL: www.imscared.com), the UE Boom Safe Haven artist edition makes your music look as cool as it sounds.

Art Out Loud

UE BoomThe UE Boom was launched in 2013, and it’s one of very few speaker systems that emphasize creativity as well as sound quality. The Artist Edition series takes the standard UE Boom and adds custom artwork to the acoustic skin. In the case of the Safe Haven, the artwork comes from Craola, who takes inspiration from his favorite childhood books and cartoons, as well as pop culture and nature elements to produce his street-ready artwork. The art channels the Outside, depicting a mythical aquatic world inhabited by ocean dwellers.

The Safe Haven is a limited edition of just 200 units, so if you’re digging the style you should grab one while they last.

Sound Around

The UE Boom features 360º sound, so it’s designed to be the center of your room, rather than hidden away on a bookshelf. It features dual passive bass radiators for bigger low end oomph, and its water resistant design means you can take it anywhere. The built-in rechargeable battery is good for 15 hours of usage, and Bluetooth connectivity lets you stream without wires. There’s even a mic built in for speakerphone functionality in case you need somebody to join the party remotely.

The 200 Safe Have models are available from the Ultimate Ears web store, and the retail price is $199.99.
