Japan anticipating iPhone launch

Japan is a fairly advanced nation, by modern standards. When you consider that the average Japanese teen can do things like view comics, catch live TV, pay bills and even use the GPS system right from their mobile phones, it should come as a surprise that some of them are still looking forward to the (not-so-impressive) iPhone.

According to Yahoo Value Insight, 13% of participants in a recent survey wanted an iPhone. Of that 13%, only 15% said they were willing to switch mobile carriers to obtain one. It will also be interesting to see if Apple extends the iTunes store functionality to Japan and a lot of the Far East, because the activation process requires an iTunes account.
