Patent Application is further evidence of the actuality of 1.1.3

Hrmpf.com has dug up one of Apple’s patent applications from August of 2007 and it seems that this is fairly conclusive proof of at least one feature of iPhone Firmware Version 1.1.3.

The patent describes the motion of dragging icons around on a cellular device.

A portable electronic device displays a plurality of icons (e.g., graphical objects) in a region in a touch-sensitive display; detects a predefined user action, with respect to the touch-sensitive display, for initiating a predefined user interface reconfiguration process; and varies positions of one or more icons in the plurality of icons in response to detecting the predefined user action. The varying includes varying the positions of the one or more icons about respective average positions.

Yeah, I didn’t get that either, but the picture tells it all. Seen at the top is a frame from this image that hrmpf.com put together from various images in the patent application. It is pretty clear that this is the wiggling icons seen in firmware 1.1.3 when moving icons around on the home screen.
