With the launch of the new 16GB iPhone, Apple has added two new commercials to its iPhone series: Facebook and KBB. The first ad, “Facebook” is aimed at people who are addicted to Facebook and want to get the full experience on-the-go. It presents the iPhone as a great device to check up on your friends’ statuses and other features. Most other mobile phones have a simple WAP browser that can only show the mobile version of Facebook – to most current users this is a completely new experience of browsing. Of course, there are plenty of PDAs and other “smartphones” that have full web browsers like Opera. However, this is a version of Facebook specifically designed for the iPhone or iPod Touch – and it looks and feels just like an iPhone app.
The second ad visits Kelley Blue Book, the famous guide to car prices. In this commercial, Apple is suggesting that the iPhone is also a useful tool in talking to car dealers and checking prices on the move. This time it isn’t a web app designed just for the iPhone, but demonstrating how any website can be viewed as if it were on a computer.
