iPhone & iPod TouchThe latest rumor floating around the internet is about a $100 price drop on both the iPhone and iPod Touch, also discontinuing the low capacity models. 9to5Mac, a blog that has recently been fairly accurate with their rumors, believe that we will be seeing these updates in the next two months. They believe that the 8GB iPhone and iPod Touch will be discontinued, leaving the 16GB iPhone at $399, 16GB iPod Touch at $299 and 32GB iPod Touch at $399.

This update would make sense, seeing as Apple has done the same in the past with the 4GB iPhone. I’m sure it’s the same case with the iPod Touch; most people I know who have one have the 16GB, and I haven’t seen many 8GBs flying off the shelves either. My guess is that this will happen soon. With flash memory prices decreasing, and the competition catching up on them, Apple has to keep updating their line so that the prices reflect the storage better.
