The MacBook Air’s single USB port is not suitable for all USB devices, because it is concealed in such a tight area. The AirQueue from Synchrotech hopes to solve this problem. It’s a $6 USB extender cable designed for the MacBook Air – it’s also designed to work with their MicroU2E USB ExpressCard reader. The combination of an AirQueue and MicroU2E results in the ability to have 3G broadband access on your MacBook Air – although the USB wire and 3G card will probably destroy the clean look of your MacBook Air – it’s the risk some would take to get 3G internet access anywhere.
The AirQueue is a cool idea, and I think it’s definitely a useful tool if you’re using a MacBook Air in a desktop situation. But if you’re traveling, the AirQueue is probably going to get it your way. I guess this is another disadvantage of the MacBook Air; hopefully the next generation MacBook Air will have more USB ports, in a more accessible position.
