The Coding Monkeys have done it again, pushing out a semi-minor release of SubEthaEdit, the first release in a while. Although not much was changed, one hugely important feature was added. Using SubEthaEdit over the internet (not locally) used to be somewhat difficult, and involved port forwarding and router reconfiguration. With 3.1, this is no longer an issue. Automatic port forwarding ensures that your port is forwarded without any configuration, and works with UPnP or NAT-PMP enabled routers. If the people who you are working with use iChat, you can drag their buddy onto a document, which invites them to the document sharing session. Friendcasting has also been added, though sadly, if you don’t have Leopard, iChat features won’t work. SubEthaEdit remains at 29 euros, and is available to try as a 30 day trial.
