Is Apple filming a secret commercial, or do they just love to get rumors started?

Are you wondering what witty jokes the good ol’ people over at Apple will come up with to intro this year’s WWDC? Sorry, we don’t have any of those for you, but we may know where this filming took place. According to a Valleywag article, Apple built a full size replica of an Apple Store in the Warner Bros. parking lot over Memorial Day weekend. We have one question; why? Apple has over 150 store locations world wide that they could have filmed at for free instead of building a whole new store. Although it would require the store to be closed for about a day or two, I’m sure the loss in sales wouldn’t cost as much as building and taking down an entire store.

Valleywag points out that maybe Apple’s goal was to not make a scene like when they closed down the Manhattan store to film. Either way, I’m just glad they got the filming done because the intro clip to Apple’s WWDC is one of my favorite parts about the keynote. I love watching poor little PC get up there all by himself and talking about how well Apple is doing. What do you think about all of this? Did filming really occur here, or is it just some weird act on Apple’s part?
