There’s no doubt Apple’s iPhone was off to a great start in the United States, although only sold through AT&T as the sole carrier. Its popularity and influence soon began to spread across the world, and today, the iPhone covers nearly half of the world.
Shown above is a map of the world wherein all the countries that have been colored red either already have the iPhone or will be getting the iPhone by the end of the summer (with the exception of Canada, which will be getting the iPhone by the end of the year). Another note of contention is that Switzerland, Spain and Poland have not yet been confirmed to be receiving the iPhone at this point, but the rumors for it are pretty strong.
Bear in mind that this map is for official launches of the iPhone across the globe, and doesn’t include countries where it is sold on the “gray market” (such as China and Russia). The iPhone has been very popular across the globe, and is pretty much sold everywhere around the world (against Apple’s wishes, of course), and will continue to be officially expanded as time goes by.
