Growl, a very popular and free notification app for Mac OS X that sits as a preference pane, is now officially version 1.1.3. Although Growl probably already notified you of this, there are a slew of upgrades in this new version, and it is still free. However, as usual, be sure to donate some money to support further development if you like the app. According to the version history, here are some of the key updates:
Growl, which is very easy to use, comes with complete control over how your notifications look, where they display, and what apps send the notifications (if the app supports Growl, such as Adium and Skype). The notifications can also be emailed or spoken instead of displaying a window on the screen, if you’re into that. I use Growl on my machine, and I love how simple and helpful it can be. If you haven’t already, be sure to check it out.
