So, while Canadian iPhone fans are petitioning for lower iPhone 3G rates from Rogers, our friends from the land down under will most probably be happier with the pricing rates of the iPhone 3G when it hits the Australian market on July 11. Telstra Australia has just announced their pricing rates for the iPhone 3G, and while it is not as cheap as the AT&T offering, their pricing plans still seem better than those of Canada’s Rogers Communications.
The iPhone 3G will be distributed through Telstra’s various Next G 3G service plans which will start at $20 per month with initial cost of $269 for the 8GB iPhone 3G and $385 for the 16GB model. Or, Australian customers can get their iPhone 3G for free if they subscribe to a Telstra mobile plan $77 for the 8GB iPhone 3G or the 16GB model for free with the $100/month Next G plan. These plans come with a 24-month contract and includes free Wi-Fi access.
