Apple has yet to officially launch the iPhone 2.0 software through an iTunes update, but if you are the impatient type (like me), you can get it anytime you want. All you have to do is click this iPhone 2.0 download link, and you’re on your way to applications on your iPhone. However, as this isn’t the official Apple release, take caution. There is no guarantee as to what this may due to your iPhone, and we are not responsible for it. That said, it worked fine for me. (NOTE: iPod Touch owners will have to wait, because this only works for the iPhone.)
Before you install it, make sure to do a full sync first as Apple says this update will completely wipe your phone during the process. If you sync first ,you will not need to worry about this because iTunes will make an up-to-date backup for you.
Now, to install it, download the package and unzip it if necessary. Then, you’re going to have to tell iTunes where it is so it knows you have it. To do that, simply option + click on the “Check for Updates” button when you connect your iPhone. Then, navigate to where the package is, and click open. Have fun!
i downloaded it and when i double click and hit open it just opens itunes and i see the hour glass for a few secs and disappears and when i click check for update it just says 1.1.4 is the latest version please help

this sucks i can't get it to work even when i hold the alt button down it still says the same thing…..could there be any other way to direct itunes to the file??
use shift instead, it worked for me
@Antman: You don't double click the package. You Option+Click the "Check for Updates" in iTunes and then navigate where to the package is located. Then you hit open, and it should start doing its thing. It does take about five minutes to install.
@Antman: My bad, I didn't realize it until now, but you are probably using a Windows machine. Hold down Alt (Option for Macs) on your keyboard and then click the updates button with your mouse. That should do it.
