iPhone 3G Launch DayBeing the devoted Apple user that I am, I stood in line at my local Mayfair Apple Store in Wisconsin for two hours on July 11th to get my iPhone. I was sixth in line, and the wait was totally worth it. The customer experience you receive at the Apple Store is like no other. Luckily for you who weren’t able to make it, I have taken some photos for you to enjoy.

The Main iPhone Line
The main line at the Mayfair Apple Store. The line went out the door, which is behind me in this photo.

iPhone Goodies
The kind people at the Apple Store gave us free water and brochures.

iPhone Display and Main Entrance
And the black curtains fall revealing helpful Apple employees and 3G iPhones!

Walking Into the Store
Just seconds away from getting my very own 3G iPhone!

In The Apple Store
Ahh, the Apple Store.

iPhone Main Counter
Think this will be enough iPhones?

iPhone Actvation
The in store activation process. Well, it didn’t work. I’m at home now waiting for iTunes to finish activating my phone. The servers are totally down.

  1. I just got back from the central T-Mobile store in Hamburg Germany.
I got to tell you it doesnt look close to being anything like in the States. There is a picnic in the front with a real DJ people siting on comfy chairs sipping drinks (I dont know what it was but it was served in Martini glasses) and being served FREE ice creams, fruits and whatnot.
The line was maximum 5 people and there was total maybe 40-50 people in the store but looking at … other phones. The whole atmosphere was very interesting. It just looked like most of people are oblivious of what is going on. I bet most of the people sipping drinks outside didnt know why there are free drinks – none of them had a iPhone bag. I heard one guy (albeit in English) asking one of the attendants if the food and drinks are served everyday.
The last but not least I noticed that the T-Mobile stipulates that the internet on the iPhone may not be used for VoIP nor for IM. So I asked one of the T-Mobile guys what s going to be if I download AIM app for the App Store. He told me it wont work.
Anyways, regards from a serene Hamburg.
