Jonathan Weber has managed to slip a nice fluff-piece past his editor all about why he personally doesn’t care about the iPhone. I’m not sure what the reader’s reaction is supposed to be, but mine was “I don’t care about this article.”
Johnny’s reasoning is that because he only uses email and phone service, his BlackBerry is fine for him. Which it is, and which we don’t need to know. He goes on to talk about all the reasons he doesn’t need an iPhone: he doesn’t do Twitter, he doesn’t listen to music on the go, and he’s also not a big picture-taker or gamer. Whoop-dee-doo.
This article could be called “Why I Have No Use for the iPhone,” but instead he opts to call it “What’s the point of the iPhone?”
Clearly nothing for you, John, but for those for whom the iPhone makes sense, the point is very big. If you don’t need all the features, don’t get it, but don’t whine in your articles about why you personally don’t need a device that no-one is pressuring you into getting.
It just has no point.

It is, strangely, those who do not actually possess an iPhone whom so clearly see it's shortcomings, limitations and problems.
Articles abound in which writers complain endlessly about the device, while clearly showing that they either have no use an iPhone, or have never actually used one in the 'real world.' Experts all, though many are clearly self-appointed experts. This writer appears to be nothing more than such an 'expert' with regard to the iPhone.
Hey: it's not the device for me, and I don't have one. But, it is a technological marvel and a 'game-changer' for the wireless industry, and I admire what Apple has achieved. And, yes – I have handled one or more of them extensively, and carefully observed them in use by others.
