The list of apps that are only available for jailbroken iPhones has gotten one shorter with the release of Tris at the App Store. OK, so Tris won’t do any of the things Apple won’t allow that some jailbroken apps will, but it’s a blast to play. Plus, you don’t have to jailbreak your iPhone. I, for one, would never do that (…again..at least, I don’t want to…yet).
Tris is free, open source, and awesome.
The controls for Tris are very intuitive. Swipe left or right to move the falling pieces left or right. Tap the screen to make the block rotate. Swipe down to place the piece faster than it’s falling, and swipe up if it’s falling too fast for you to place correctly. You can swipe up a maximum of two times.
Tris has a very simple interface. When you start up the game, you basically only get to choose if you want to start a new game or view high scores. Tris keeps track of local and global high scores, so you can see how you compare to the best players around the world.
Have something more important to do while playing Tris? Don’t worry, Tris automatically saves your last uncompleted game.
I think Tetris is one of those games that just needs to be on every device that has a screen big enough to display it. And now, you can get it for free. Give it a try; I think you’ll like it.
