Steve Jobs promises September iPhone software patch

Apple CEO Steve Jobs has promised a fix for a common bug in the iPhone’s latest software. Many people are experiencing iPhone applications not launching properly; Apple is aware of this and are hoping to fix it in an update that will be released in September. “This is a known iPhone bug that is being fixed in the next software update in September,” says the short note from Steve.

Only third-party applications are affected by this bug, so your game of Super Monkey Ball may have to wait until September. However, the iPhone’s default apps (Phone, Mail, Safari, etc.) will work as normal.

The bug is due to the way iTunes monitors App Store purchases. “One member of Apple’s forums has been told by a support agent that his iTunes account was apparently “split into two separate accounts.” This confuses an iPhone when it attempts to launch an app. Once again, DRM has messed everything up.
