Took a while: Apple sued over iPhone 3G issues

LawsuitOne Jessica Smith of Birmingham has filed a class action lawsuit against Apple, alleging that Apple misled customers regarding iPhone 3G speeds.

The ten page lawsuit alleges that Apple has breached express warranty by promising internet “twice as fast” and not delivering because of connectivity problems that make speed impossible to attain. The “Defective iPhone 3G,” as it is always called in the lawsuit, would connect less than a quarter of the time in “excellent” coverage areas.

Why people try lawsuits is beyond me. Granted, this one has more of a chance of being won due to the fact that these claims aren’t unsubstantiated. However, the class-action nature of the lawsuit is based upon internet reports, and currently the only person actually attached to the case is Smith herself. I’d rather wait for an update to fix the issues than incur legal fees and waste time for a small chance at getting some money from Apple, and having to wait just as long for an update anyway.
