iPod line Target, Argos in the UK, and many more iPod supply stores are saying that the current iPod line is marked “discontinued” in preparation for new models with a potential September Apple event.

According to Apple Insider, Argos recieved displays promoting price cuts, including a huge wall poster. It is a bit unclear whether this means cuts on existing inventory, or cheaper, newer iPod lines.

This September is shaping up to be much like last September, when the whole line got an overhaul: new iPod nanos with video, the iPod classic, new shuffle colors, and of course, the iPod touch. My personal expectations for this September are updated, cheaper iPod touches, hopefully getting rid of the horrendous scratchable back that Apple insists on putting on its iPods. I also hope to see a new, higher capacity iPod nano, perhaps replacing the shuffles at the $99 price line, making room for cheaper and redesigned iPod classics, and the $199 16GB iPod touch.

One big thing that is being predicted is iTunes Unlimited, a subscription music service. I just don’t think it’ll happen, though it could be a great money maker.

What do you think will be announced? Comment below so you can prove it if you’re right!

  1. Everything is alway's iPod. iPod's sucks and who cares about that they are being phased out. What about the Creative Zen? Creative invented the iPod interface, which Apple stole. Creative just came out with new ZEN players including the world's first X-fi Wirless player called the ZEN X-Fi. It has features the iPod doesn't have such as X-Fi, FM Tuner & built-in Microphone built was 16.7 million color screen, the iPod has a much lower resolution screen

  2. Everything's iPod because
    a) iPod is by far the market leader
    b) This is an Apple site.
