Gizmodo has posted an interesting list supposedly from Verizon about their talking points regarding the iPhone 3G.
Some of the more noteworthy points on this list include:
The new 3G iPhone will be twice as fast only where AT&T has 3G coverage!
Now this stands out as a big old DUH to me, but I am also aware that this is a pretty big deal. In many areas, mine included, 3G access is not available, but AT&T has no problem charging consumers for that non-existent coverage. I’d be more than happy to keep my current iPhone plan if I were to upgrade; keeping my lower price with included text messages, though “suffering” without 3G.
They cut the device price by $200 but raised the service price by $240!
Yup, I know, and it hurts a bit. I never really liked this lowered price marketing tactic when it’s not completely true.
Verizon Wireless’s Premium Plans include unlimited messaging with premium 3G data services with audible T-B-T dierecitons and OTA downloads!
Really? Okay, I’m kinda jealous. But I bet none of Verizon’s cell phones have Apple logos on them.
Verizon has pretty much compiled all of the reasons why I didn’t upgrade to the iPhone 3G…yet. But one thing Verizon can’t one-up is Apple’s hardware and software experience. As much as I hate paying AT&T’s monthly rates, I still do it, because I love my iPhone. It’s the first phone I’ve ever had that I haven’t completely hated. Do I get frustrated with the iPhone? Yes. But not so much so that I don’t routinely remind everyone I know how much I love it.
Are the points on this list keeping you from buying an iPhone 3G? What do AT&T or Apple have to do to get you to buy an iPhone 3G? Or do they just have to wait for you to give in?

I actually would rather if the iPhone was on Verizon. Of course, Verizon had to be stupid and reject Apple's offer. Non buyers remorse is kicking in.
and to answer the question, AT&T;needs to lower their rates big time to get me to get an iPhone.
I never buy any new Apple product. OK, I do make an exception for their computers. I love all things Mac! Most of Apple's other devices are hype and glitz and "buyer beware." The iPod's battery was not replaceable until a lot of people suddenly needed to replace them and hit Apple with a Class Action Suit. Then the battery time is not all that. iPod screens scratch and become unrecognizeable. Bit by bit we discover that the emperor is wearing see-thru-clothing. Same thing with the iPhone. Bit by bit we are finding software glitches, battery glitches, and the biggest glitch of all, AT&T;. The Death Star (see logo) is one of the greediest corporates on the planet. Lousy speed and many areas that are not supported with a signal. So, no blame cast if you want the glitz and bellsand whistles but I like old reliable Verizon. Wherever I been, someone can hear me then.
I don't buy the service price increase argument from Verizon when their data service has been priced at $30 since EDVO was introduced. My wife and I are saving $60/month on AT&T;for the same plan that we had on Verizon (2100 minutes shared and two data plans). The one thing that Verizon has going for it is network quality. It was a hard choice to go back to AT&T;from Verizon just for the iPhone, but as the article states, the iPhone is the nicest phone I have ever had. The 2.1 update is out as of today, and I couldn't be happier with the improvements. I waited months for BlackBerry updates on Verizon and they didn't fixed any of the problems I had with the Pearl and the 8830.
Att has there issues but id choose them over verizon any day of the week. Verizon nickles n dimes and the att signal seems really close to that of verizons.
