Adium Mac IM programAdium has long been my favorite chatting program on the Mac. Sorry Apple, but iChat just doesn’t cut it for me. It’s kind of like TVs; you don’t know how bad your TV looks until you’ve seen a 1080p in person.

This week, Adium released an official update to their slick chatting program, clocking its version number at 1.3.

The most notable change this time is the addition of Facebook chatting. Now you don’t have to log into your Facebook account to chat with your friends that refuse to use AIM, MSN, GoogleTalk…you get the picture. It’s nice to not have to log into the website considering that I spend a lot of time browsing the web daily. Now I don’t have to have a separate tab open just for Facebook, and then miss most of my conversations anyway because I don’t hear the sound or close the tab.

With the update you can keep your friends wondering as to why or how you stay logged into Facebook and active all day long.

The only problem with this new feature is that you have to log out of Adium in order to not have a few hiccups while logging into the Facebook web interface. A small problem, in my book.

Check it out. Adium has a ton of other great features to offer, including compatibility with just about every instant messaging service known to man, along with enough customization to keep you busy for weeks.

  1. But no video chat and a crappy interface. I tried Adium, and within a day it was gone. iChat FTW :D
