You may be a Mac user. Hell, you may be a Mac fanatic. But admit it, you crave one of the many little netbooks floating around. I’ve been looking to buy one for almost a year, but new ones are churned out so quickly that I don’t have time to decide, let alone buy one. If you were one of the idiots early adopters who bought the MacBook Air earlier this year, now may be the time to facepalm yourself and mumble “Why didn’t I think of that?” Yes, you guessed it, the netbooks are starting to be hacked with OS X.
Unlike the first few, these are fast. Really fast. And the best part is, these netbooks are cheaper and smaller than the MacBook Air. Most bugs have been eliminated, and only a few are left for the netbook community to solve. For the most part, according to TUAW’s OS X on netbooks post, things run smoothly, with boot times of 45 seconds on the Dell Mini 9 and better Wi-Fi signal due to the lack of a metal chassis. There’s a bit of setup to be done (instructions and links can be found at TUAW), but just think about all the money saved.
Oh, one thing. This (installing OS X on a non-Apple machine) violates Apple’s EULA, so proceed at your own risk. You’re responsible (really).

Nah, I havent craved one since I had the opportunity to use one. Felt like crap, least sturdy thing I have ever held. Wouldn't trust it with my data for a minute.
I'd rather not buy a warranty for the express reason the the product feels so crappy I know I'll need it. Ditto with backups.
many's the time I've damaged internal parts while backing up.

I prefer to have a machine that's all ready to go, works 100% with all the hardware that is in the machine and doesn't give me any problems.
If Apple comes out with a cheap netbook, then we'll talk. Until then I'll stick with the Macbook or maybe an iPod touch.
