Can new MacBooks handle more than 4GB of RAM?

The article cites that Mac Mini owners are able to use 4GB or RAM when the stated limit is 2GB. So, apparently, RAM limits are not always set based on physical limitations.
This is just a rumor, but 9to5Mac seems to think that the NVIDIA 9400M chipset should be able to handle more than 4GB of RAM, even though it’s 32-bit. Their reasoning stems from the fact that the equivalent chipset for desktops, the 9300, is also 32-bit and tops out at 8GB, not 4GB.
I personally would love to test this rumor out, if 4GB DDR3 sticks weren’t so expensive that is. If you have the resources to test this out, definitely let us know in the comments.
