Macintosh and iPhone software updatesMacintosh and iPhone software updates and announcements for October 27, 2008:

  • iZATT has released MileBug LITE, a lite version of the popular miles tracking app for the iPhone and iPod touch. MileBug LITE is fully functional and available for $2.99. The only difference is a restriction to 10 trips recorded before a report must be sent and the trip log reset. Then record 10 more. Repeat. MileBug LITE provides the option to track miles or kilometers, enter custom rates, and include foreign characters in the reports. MileBug LITE also supports Spanish.
  • xCube Labs has released Rescue Angels 60 for the iPhone and iPod touch. The game is built on the concept of rescuing angels trapped inside bubbles using the arrows available. Rescue Angels is a combination of a shooting game and a puzzle game. While you must aim perfectly, each mission offers intriguing puzzles that force you to figure out where to shoot and what to hit.
  • White Wizard Productions has announce MConvert 7.4. MConvert is the prime software for converting measurements (metric/imperial) and currencies, and the most comprehensive and accurate converter available. It’s a great tool for education and reference. MConvert offers 26 conversion groups and many subgroups, including Acceleration, Angle, Area, Base, Consumption, Currency, Data, Density, Energy, Energy/Mass, Force, GPS, Illuminance, Length, Luminance, Mass, Permeability, and more.
  • Steven Riggs has announced TimeTable 1.5. TimeTable allows you to easily analyze and total the number of hours recorded in iCal. Find trends by searching the details of events and viewing the average, maximum and minimum times spent on projects. This makes it particularly suited for tracking and billing without keeping a second record outside of iCal.
  • Siavash Ghamaty has introduced Recycler, the first recycling-friendly iPhone application for free download. Recycler untangles those complicated and seemingly arbitrary PEC plastic codes on the bottom of your recyclables. Acceptable plastic recycling codes vary from location to location. Recycler allows users to add their location’s codes into an attractive interface that makes a green-conscious lifestyle easy.
  • In a recent Mossblog, Walt Mossberg writes, “When Apple redesigned its laptops earlier this month, most of the attention, including mine, was focused on the entry-level MacBook… But what about the MacBook’s big brother, the 15 inch MacBook Pro, a powerful, if pricey, laptop favored by many power users? My verdict on the Pro’s makeover isn’t nearly as favorable, because there were more tradeoffs.”
  • Grantwood Technology, LLC has announced the release of the tuneband for the 4th generation iPod nano, an armband product designed to comfortably secure the iPod nano 4th generation in place during exercise, including Nike+iPod compatibility.
