MacBook Nano kid
You’re turning green. I can see it. And not in a Hulky way; no, it’s more like an envious green. This kid has the one product that many of us have been dreaming about for some time now. Well, kinda. This is the closest anyone will be getting to a MacBook nano until at least next year, if at all. It’s obviously not a Macintosh—no, it’s a Hackintosh—but it’s still pretty sweet.

MacBook Nano packaging

It’s obvious from the start that this isn’t an Apple product. I mean, look at that packaging. So wasteful and ugly. Even still, this little netbook is pretty intriguing. It’s actually an MSI U100 modded in the style of a MacBook that is sooo three weeks ago. Notice that the Apple logo even looks like it’s cut right into that shiny plastic on the back. The attention to detail here is pretty decent.

MacBook Nano upclose

The only detail that is really sub-optimal is the Command key. It’s just an apple. It’s not even an open apple! Apple dropped the open apple from their keyboards a while back, but I’ll be honest, I kind of miss it.

The netbook can actually run OS X, though how well is another question. You could do the same thing to a number of netbooks, but there’s hacking involved, and I’m betting Apple isn’t too cool about this.

Here are the specs on the MacBook Nano.

  • MSI U100 MacBook Nano
  • Windows XP Pro + Mac OS X 10.5.5
  • Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz
  • 2G DDRII
  • 10″ WSVGA LED (1024×600)
  • 320GB SATA
  • 1kg
  • MMC/SD/MS 4

Now Apple, how about making an official netbook? I know I’d buy one. Would you?
