Google Mobile app updateGoogle’s anticipated update to Google Mobile has finally gone live. The update was expected last Friday, but for whatever reason…Apple…it’s out now.

The most “talked” about feature is, of course, the ability to search using only your voice. All you have to do is hold your iPhone up to your ear and speak your query as if Google is a person on the other end of the line. If you can make it past the geek factor of doing this, your iPhone will upload the sound clip it recorded to the net where Google’s machines can make sense out of the sound.

Voice search is probably the coolest new feature, but it’s not the only one. Here are the details from the update.

  1. Quick search over your iPhone contacts.
  2. Time-saving suggestions as you type:
    • location-aware results (try “pizza”)
    • auto-complete for web addresses
    • easy word completion
    • your search history
  3. One-touch to Google services like Mail, Photos, Talk, Reader & more.

Don’t forget about the location-aware search capabilities. This is great for finding local restaurants or shops. And now you don’t even have to type it.

What’s really cool about Google Mobile is that it doesn’t just search the web, it searches your device, as well. So, you can search for things like contacts, appointments, etc. Now, if only Apple would officially support file storage so you could use this to search for files, too.

Be sure to grab this update to Google Mobile, it’s well worth your time.
