This week Qik announced a website specifically optimized for Safari Mobile on the iPhone that will allow iPhone users to watch Qik videos (unfortunately, not live streams yet). Although the other half of the equation—actually being able to stream from the phone—isn’t there, the native application is still in the works. In the words of Bhaskar Roy, Qik’s co-founder, they’re stilling waiting “… to build a few things in our product prior to submitting it.” When it’s launched, I have a feeling it’s going to be good.
I’ll admit that a Qik website isn’t as good as a native application would be, but their website offers some nice features. Logged-in users are able to due some minor editing of their profiles via the iPhone site, such as adding titles, descriptions, and tags to videos. As mentioned above, users will not, however, be able to watch live streams, just Quicktime formatted videos that Qik users have saved on their profiles.
Let us know what you think of the site!
