Google Earth Browser PluginGoogle Earth, the great application that has been helping us travel the world from our desktop for quite some time now, has only been available for the Mac through your desktop up to this point. However, a new plug-in from Google Code allows Mac users to navigate this 3D globe of the world from their browsers. Although you won’t have access to all of the cool functionality the desktop version of this program has, you will get the basic Google Earth application, which is a great addition to your browser. As the site says, you will now be able to add about one line of code to your webpages to have the full power of Google Earth at all of your website’s visitors fingertips.

This 147MB plug-in download worked seamlessly for me on my Intel iMac using the newest version of Firefox, and it’s pretty awesome. Now, instead of just Google Maps, people can embed tourist locations and what not using Google’s large database of images for the program. Not only that, but this quick release of a Mac version for the Google Earth plug-in is also a sign of quicker support for Macs, meaning they have more of a presence now. Head on over to Google Code and check it out!
