Just a week ago, RSS feeds were full of articles writing about a rumor that Apple was going to be selling a 4GB version of their iPhone at Walmart for the low price of $99. This information was brought about a month after Boy Genius Report first reported that Walmart would have the iPhone. However, this week more information (and even a picture) has developed on this rumor, and all sources point to the fact that Walmart will not be getting that version of an iPhone, and it definitely won’t be sold at that price. For example, a leaked ad from Walmart shows that they will be receiving an 8GB version and selling it for a more possible $197. It looks real to me.
If this isn’t enough proof of you, take off your tinfoil hat and read the story over at MacBlogz that says that even their AT&T sources have told them that a 4GB iPhone is not coming. On top of that, some analysts have found this rumor too wacky to be true. Although it would be great to see an iPhone for that cheap, the data plan isn’t going to be any less expensive either way. And it is most likely the data plan in the first place that is causing potential customers to turn away, not the initial price. What are your thoughts?
