Freeverse has announced two new games today at Macworld Expo; one for the iPhone, and one for Macintosh. Yes, the Macintosh…not everyone has left it for good. For the iPHone, they’ve announced SlotZ Racer, “the ultimate slot car racing game for the iPhone and iPod touch.” On the Mac side, they’re bringing us Commander – Napoleon at War for Mac OS X.
SlotZ Racer was developed by Strange Flavour, the creators of Flick Fishing for iPhone, as well as many Mac games. SlotZ Racer brings the thrill of slot racing to your iPhone, turning us all into 7-year-olds again. The game contains everything you need for slot racing fun, only without the need to occasionally clean the tracks with alcohol and a Q-Tip.
I had the chance to check out a demo at their Macworld booth, and it looks pretty sweet. You don’t have to worry about the accelerometer or anything like that…this is slot racing. You have a button to press for speed. When you don’t want speed, you don’t press the button. Simple as that, just like the real thing. Because of the basic controls, you can actually get four people racing at once, each pushing a button on a corner of the iPhone. That would make for some pretty crowded gaming, but the iPhone is all about sharing the racing love, isn’t it?
Even better, you can create your own tracks with the included track editor. My slot racing set allowed me to set up to six different tracks with the included pieces. SlotZ Racer will offer quite a bit more. The game will be released within the next few weeks.
And in a nice gesture to those of us who still have, you know, computers, Freeverse has announced Commander – Napoleon at War. This sequel to Commander takes the action from a WWII setting to the Napoleonic era.
Commander – Napoleon at War was not on display at the Freeverse booth, and no release date has been set.
