On Friday, February 6th, MacHeist 3 kicked off to the excitement of tons of geeks around the internet. What is MacHeist, you ask? A creative, brain-teasing, fun way to get free and steeply discounted Mac software! What more could you ask for?
This MacHeist was kicked off with a mini-mission of sorts: the goal was to decode clues and find nine different images scattered across the web. When entered into the MacHeist “mainframe,” they pieced together into one big image which took thirty days to decode. Upon completion of this mini-Heist, users recieved Pandora’s Pests, Process, and MacDust for free. The thirty day period was up on Friday, when a brand new MacHeist 3 site was revealed along with a briefing.
All MacHeist missions begin with a briefing. In this case, we were shown a video of Agent Sophia explaining to us how the decoded image had been used. Below the video was our clue: a picture of a lockbox and a key. I won’t spoil the heist for you, but I will say this was a short one in comparision to many (hence the title, nano-mission) and it included a slide puzzle and a “Traffic Jam”-like puzzle. At the end of the mission, you are rewarded with ShoveBox, KavaTunes, and a Stationery Pack, worth $68 in total.
MacHeist culminates after a few heists with a bundle of apps for sale at heavily discounted prices, usually around $50 for a bundle valued at hundreds of dollars. If you want to get in on the fun, join for free at MacHeist.com and start exercising your brain muscles.
