Freeapps roundup for February 13th, 2009Today is Friday the 13th, which I think is hilarious. Obviously Tomorrow is Valentine’s day, which either makes you ecstatic or depressed. I’ve got a few apps for the love birds this week. There’s a piano app so you can make a sweet love song, and an Emoji enabler, so you can send your true feelings to your partner. But let’s be honest; Valentine’s Day sucks unless you’re not single, which doesn’t imply it’s awesome, either. Don’t worry, it will all be over soon…

  • Grand Lite – Another piano simulator, but this one has 6 octaves, making it much less restrictive than some other free piano apps out there.
  • Spell Number – One of the first apps I’m going to recommend that you download and use only once, after which time you can delete it. You spell the number they give you, and it enables Emoji icons on any iPhone for free. Sweet deal. There’s a little bit to the process, so after you download this, you’ll want to read this article.
  • Wallet Zero – Why does every grocery, pet, department and inconvenience store want me to sign up for their stupid club, which enevitably comes with a key card? Chuck the plastic and use this instead. You can enter in any barcode and it will be stored in this app for easy access.
  • All Stars Darts Lite – It’s a free darts game. What else can I say, really? You already know you can flick to throw the darts. I wonder if you get customization options in the full version so you could put a special someone’s picture on the board?
  • Black Sheep Lite – A maze game with a twist. Okay, the twist isn’t huge, but controlling a Black Sheep is pretty awesome in my opinion. Not awesome enough to warrant a buy, but still pretty cool.
  • Crazy Cube Lite – A free 3x3x3 virtual Rubik’s cube. Sadly, just as impossible to solve as the real thing.
  • WhatTheFont – Have you ever been reading something and said to yourself “Seriously, WTF!?” Problem solved right here, pal. This app identifies fonts anywhere you can find them. In print? Just snap a pic. On the web? Just take a snapshot with the two finger salute. This is my favorite app of the week. Download it now!
