Yesterday, Apple introduced a new feature to MobileMe: sharing large files with others through an iDisk. The service works like any regular file sharing website such as RapidShare, but instead of uploading a file, you simply use a file that’s already in your iDisk. MobileMe assigns a URL to the file in your iDisk and you can send the link in an e-mail through MobileMe. There are some useful options in this new feature, such as adding a password to secure the file, and adding an expiration date.
This sharing functionality is not yet available through the Finder, so you’ll have to use the iDisk web application. Similar functionality has been available for some time, however, from other apps such as DropBox and FileChute. You can view a tutorial on sharing files with iDisk on Apple’s website.
