There has been a lot of commotion on the Internet about many developers’ iPhone app registration approaching the one year expiration date. However, when they reapply to keep their apps on the store, they have been met with very long wait times that could risk their app’s presence. I personally was pretty lucky when I applied for my iPhone app development registration and only had to wait about two days. Thankfully, I was only applying, not reapplying, so I didn’t have any apps in the store at risk. But should we put Apple at blame of taking too long and being too restrictive with apps and registration? That question is still in the air.
I’m well aware that Apple has plenty of apps in the review process to be accepted (as I have been waiting for a while on one of my own apps), but they should have been expecting this. With such a popular platform, Apple needs to find a way to more quickly and efficiently get apps through the submission process and onto their store. The same is true for the registration. Some people’s livelihoods are developing applications for the iPhone, and it isn’t fair if they must suffer because Apple hasn’t gotten around to accepting their registration.
