It’s no secret that Apple has been known for their secrecy. Even when the iPhone, one of their biggest products today, was first announced, it came as a major surprise to people worldwide. However, in a random act of openness, Apple’s iTunes Trailers team has created a Twitter account for themselves. Although this isn’t anything huge, watching some of the discussion over at their profile caused me to think a little. Many companies, such as Comcast, have been known to create very helpful Twitter accounts that really help the PR in the company. Could Apple be getting onto this bandwagon? And I’m not the only one wondering.
It appears as if the person behind that profile (assuming he/she is from Apple) has already become pretty helpful to Twitter users. It will be interesting to see if any more profiles come out of Apple that are there to offer more help and openness. Still, one of the most interesting things about this, in my opinion (and this may just be a coincidence), is that it came while Steve Jobs was absent from the company. Either way, it is very good to see this new view coming out of Apple, and I hope to see it continue.
