Macintosh

  • Cocoatech LLC has announced Path Finder 5.1.1, an update to their award-winning file management utility for Mac OS X. Path Finder is a file manager that looks and operates much like the Finder, but with many extra features and enhancements. It is optimized for single window use, eliminating the clutter of overlapping windows. Based upon customer suggestions, we have been busy adding and improving Path Finder nonstop. Version 5.1.1 is a recommended upgrade for all Path Finder 5 customers.
  • ProteMac has announced ProteMac Meter 2.6, their network Activity monitor and network traffic and bandwidth logger utility for Mac OS X. ProteMac Meter allows control network activity for every application on your Mac, showing you exactly what was transmitted and to where. ProteMac Meter provides real-time processes monitoring and shows the history of every network activity. Version 2.6 sports a new notification engine, updated user interface, stability improvements and misc bugs fixes.
  • Humble Daisy is offering a 40% discount on all site license purchases of ProfCast during the month of May 2009. ProfCast is a versatile, powerful, yet very simple to use tool for recording lectures.
  • After over 2-1/2 years of research and development, NovaMind has announced a revolutionary new Mind Mapping product: NovaMind 5, due to ship in September/October. Both the Windows and Mac versions of NovaMind 5 have been built from the ground up using the latest technologies to take advantage of hardware accelerated animations and graphics processing, multi-core processors and the latest user interface designs to give the best user experience possible.
  • Bursting with new features, Apple’s iMovie ’09 is vastly more usable and complete than iMovie ’08—amazing right out of the box. But the box doesn’t include a good user’s guide, so learning these applications is another matter. iMovie ’09 & iDVD: The Missing Manual gets you up to speed on everything you need to turn raw digital footage into highly creative video projects.

iPhone/iPod

  • Coding Dutchmen has announced two new apps for iPhone. Uforoids combines gameplay elements from classics such as Asteroids and Arkanoid with the new technological possibilities of the iPhone. Dart Anyone! allows you take a picture of any person or object and pin this on a dartboard, after which you can throw darts on it. The game allows you to vent all you frustration and anger on anyone or anything you (don’t) like!
  • GP Apps has announced LifeCasting (iTunes App Store link)—the first iPhone app to create and upload video to YouTube. It allows users to choose pictures from their iPhone, add audio narration, and create mp4 videos to wirelessly transfer to their desktop computer or to upload directly to YouTube from within the app. LifeCasting also allows users to email the uploaded YouTube video link to their friends and family.
  • Another Roadside Attraction LLC has announced CraigsHarvest 1.1, their popular multi-site craigslist application for iPhone and iPod touch. Version 1.1 now supports craigslist sites in Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, the UK and the US. Also, they have made available a free, ad-supported Lite version, with a subset of the features that have made CraigsHarvest so successful.
