When Apple launched the new iPhone 3GS with video and the iPhone OS 3.0 software with the Voice Memos app, they probably never realized how these apps would go hand in hand. WFOR’s 5PM News did, though. A recent news story by their reporter, Gio Benitez, was shot completely with an iPhone camera. Although it can be edited right on the phone (which is limited to simply cutting it shorter), the broadcasting company did use Final Cut Pro to edit the video. That said, all of the narration for the newscast was recorded using Apple’s Voice Memo application.
Although I’m sure there have already been some newcasts shot on cell phones before, it is cool to see one coming from the iPhone so soon. The quality must have been pretty decent if the company was willing to air it on their TV station. You can find the video on their website to see what’s it’s all about and how it turned out.
