3GS launch still causing backlog in app submissions for Apple

It’s well known by now that Apple has an issue when it comes to the amount of time required to accept certain applications. However, what is even more outrageous is the obvious increase in this already lengthy period at times when Apple is announcing/releasing/updating other products. For example, Cult of Mac is reporting that a developer they know had an application pre-release accepted within a week before the WWDC keynote. That same developer had to wait three to four weeks for the final version of his app to be accepted after he submitted it on the day of the keynote.

While I understand the amount of apps that came to Apple’s door that day was probably much, much greater than usual, they should be more prepared. Many developers depend on the money coming from their apps and deserve to get them accepted in due time. If you ask me, adding three weeks for a process that takes one week during less lively times seems a little high. This is yet again another way in which Apple needs to improve the App Store.
