When Apple announced its unibody MacBook Pro and the overall design of the computer was updated for the best, the matte display—which at one time was a free option for consumers—was left in the dust. Users, at that time, could no longer choose to have their MacBook Pro shipped with a matte screen. Graphic designers, photographers, and any other computer user who values color accuracy over colors that “pop” protested, and Apple eventually reinstated the matte option to their 17-inch MacBook Pro.
Starting this week, however, Apple has begun to once again offer a $50 matte display option to their 15-inch MacBook Pro, calling it the “Antiglare” widescreen display. It will join the 17-inch MacBook Pro as models that have matte displays, but the 13-inch MacBook “Pro” will not have this option available.
So, rejoice matte-lovers! The time is nigh, if you were previously holding out, to order your matte MacBook Pro.
