Via his Twitter account, developer Joe Hewitt has announced that he has submitted the Facebook app to the App Store, and it is now pending approval. Given the loads of negative feedback Apple has received lately regarding their draconian App Store approval process, it is very likely that we will see a (much-needed) newer Facebook application for the iPhone and iPod touch very soon. The new app, which has been a few months in the making, will have a slew of new features that will match the updates that Facebook has made to its layout in the months following the release of Facebook 2.0 for the iPhone. This includes:
- The “new” News Feed
- Like
- Events (including the ability to RSVP)
- Notes
- Pages
- Create new photo albums
- Upload photos to any album
- Zoom into photos
- Easier photo tagging
- Profile Pictures albums
- A new home screen for easy access to all your stuff, search, and notifications
- Add your favorite profiles and pages to the home screen
- Better Notifications (they link to the comments so you can reply)
- Quickly call or text people right from the Friends page
- Messages you are typing will be restored if you quit or are interrupted by a phone call
And, iPhone 3GS users, tack one more onto that list: video. As a surprise to everybody (including himself) Joe Hewitt, TAGS: apple, facebook, facebook 3.0, facebook app, facebook updates, iphone, iphone facebook app, ipod touch

YES!! Finally. Hopefully will get approved fast. I've been waiting for this. Add push notifications and it will be perfect. Haha. It looks so much better and functional now. Cannot wait for this to be approved.
