Today is the day when AT&T promised that the US based 3G and 3GS iPhones would finally be able to use MMS and join the ranks of just about every other cell phone in the universe. So, when I plugged in my iPhone to sync this afternoon, I was a little concerned that the sync completed and nothing seemed to be different. When I clicked “Check for Update” I was greeted with a message telling me there was an update to my carrier settings. I told it to update my settings and the update was over in a second, literally.
After a quick restart of the phone, I jumped to my messages app, and there is now a nice little camera icon that gives you access to both photo and video options. The upload seems pretty quick with a simple photo, but you don’t get much feedback as to what’s happening. The sending bar rushes across the screen as it normally does, then stops suddenly right before it’s done. After a few tense seconds of waiting, the message will finish as normal, and your multimedia will be speeding it’s way to the intended recipient.

Hopefully your experience will be as smooth as mine was. Feel free to tell us all about it in the comments below.

Wow, this story is LATE to the game! Old news.
