Whoever persuaded App Store developers to quit charging for their apps this week, I don’t know who you are, but thank you. And keep up the good work. There are at least three apps in my list this week that are actually worth money, but you can have them for free. Quick, to the list, before they change their minds!
Dr. Awesome Plus+ – Previously a paid for app, it’s gained Plus+ network support, and now they figured, hey, why don’t we just give it away? Sweet! If you’re a fan of destroying viri or a fan of ngmoco you’ll want to grab this one. It’s like stealing, but you can’t steal what’s free, right?
Topple 2 Plus+ – Hey look, another previously-paid-for app for free! Enjoy the fun of Topple, it won an Apple Design Award, for cryin’ out loud. Download it now, and then proceed to have fun.
Wild Things – Where exactly the wild things are, I cannot say, but this app is a good place to start looking. It has all the goods, photos, videos, music and posters. You’ll like. Really, you will.
Tweet Reel – I’m sure you have a Twitter account, I mean, everyone has one. This app used to be $2.99, and now it’s free, and if that’s not enough to get you to download it, then heck, I guess I’ll have to tell you what it does. It lets you post videos taken on your iPhone 3GS to the interwebs via Twitter. It uploads them to your own page at Tweet Reel, like http://tweetreel.com/JakeGaecke though I haven’t uploaded any videos yet…or have I?
GEICO GloveBox – A no brainer download if you have GEICO insurance. You can pay your bills, access Insurance ID Cards, get help in a ton of ways, call GEICO, and, most notably, watch some videos on the real story behind the Gecko. Interesting stuff…
Volumatic – This may not be free by the time you read this, but it’s worth a check. This app is basically an iPod with an automatically adjusting volume feature. It uses the mic built into your iPhone headphones to figure out how loud your surroundings are and adjust accordingly.
G Rss Pro – Yup, another paid app that is now free. Access your Google Reader account from your iPhone. It looks to be a pretty fully featured RSS app. Free for a limited time only.
Tap Tap Revenge 3 – I know, I know, it’s not free, but it’s a notable mention. It’s only a dollar, and I know how much the kids love the Tap Tap. I thought I should at least mention that Tapulous released the newest version of their hit tapping game this week. Enjoy it…or don’t…whatever.
