The Viper SmartStart System, a new Best Buy exclusive hardware and software combination only available for the iPhone and iPod touch, allows you to do a number of cool things with your iDevice and your car, such as:
The Viper SmartStart System makes use of a free iPhone app (iTunes App Store link) that acts as a remote for the system so you can control your car wherever you are, even miles away. A new version of the app that will be released in the near future will give users push notifications if their car alarm happens to go off.
There are two versions of the Viper SmartStart System available: the SmartStart VSM100 Module at $299.99 for cars that are already equipped with compatible Viper starting systems, and the fully loaded SmartStart VSM4000 System at $499.99 for everyone else. However, besides paying just for the system along with your iPhone bill, you’ll also be paying a $29/year GSM service bill for the system (first year of service is included for free with the purchase price).
