This week Apple released both the operating system as well as its SDK for the 3.1.3 version of the iPhone software.
The most interesting fix this update brings is more accurate battery level reporting, meaning you might actually see how much battery you actually have left, which is pretty important, if you ask me. Furthermore, according to Apple’s update notes, this version of the OS also addresses an issue where third party applications would sometimes not launch, as well as an issue with the Japanese Kana keyboard. To get it, simply launch iTunes with your device plugged in and click the check for updates button. The download and install went very smoothly for me.
It’s been a while since Apple updated the operating system of the iPhone and iPod touch. While I’m sort of disappointed we didn’t see any OS improvements at the iPad event, it is nice to know they are still putting some time towards it. Hopefully we’ll soon see some interesting updates—both hardware and software—from Cupertino. I know I’ve been waiting!
