Mac gamers travel a hard, barren road. We kind of always have, aside from perhaps a brief moment where game developers mistakenly believed that all those little blue iMacs being sold would somehow result in hard core Mac gamers crawling from the woodwork like the thousand-legged bugs you usually on see in nightmares and boss battles. That didn’t happen, and since then the Mac has been a dumping ground of casual gaming scraps, with only the occasional bone that still has some meat on it.
But that doesn’t mean Mac gamers should be without hope. That doesn’t mean that special game isn’t out there waiting for you. There are plenty of fish in the sea, if I may mix my metaphors…although, granted, you’ll likely find yourself incompatible with most. But if you lower your standards a bit—go for a game that’s perhaps too old for you, or maybe not good looking enough—you can certainly find the fun and companionship you seek.
And that’s why I’ve started “Single Mac Gamer Seeks…” my new column over at Gamertell.com. Why there instead of on Appletell? Because the Mac needs to be represented on a by-God gaming site. You just don’t want to pick your mate at your support group session.
Listen, I know that “God of War 3″ “Borderlands” and “Mass Effect 2″ are out of our league. But do you know that girl in the movies who no one likes because she wears glasses and puts her hair up in a bun or a ponytail or something? Before long, she’ll let her hair down and look our way through blue-tinted contacts, and bam! Bioshock for Mac.
So, head on over to Gamertell to discover how Telltale is looking to fix us up with a mighty pirate, a single British man and his dog, and a guy with a lucha libre fetish.
