Apple iPad international launch coming late MayDue to the high interest that the Apple iPad has received in the US, Apple has been forced to set back the international launch date from “late April” to “late May.” This morning in a press release, Apple stated that 500,000 iPads had been sold in the U.S. in the first week alone, and that they feel that they will continue to “exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad.” On the one side, it’s great that the iPad has been doing so well, but on the other, it’s a little frustrating for those not in the U.S. to be kept waiting, with every other tweet being about the iPad.

Apple has given some hope though, with the U.K. website stating that online pre-orders will begin on May 10th. The pre-orders will also be available in Canada, France, Australia and Germany. This delay should also hopefully give enough time for 3G deals to be finalized, allowing both the WiFi-only and 3G devices to be available at the same time. We have heard already from O2-UK that they plan to offer iPad-specific contracts, details of which should be coming in the next few weeks. The press release from Apple also stated that pre-orders made for the 3G versions of the iPad for the U.S. will continue to be shipped in “late April,” so there are no worries on that front.

So, hang in there, international iPad fans; they’re coming. Heck, at least we know the wait should be worth it.

  1. This is just a good thing for those apple lovers outside US and to those disappointed by the news here are the 3 reasons that you should be happy.

    1. More accessories – The apple nowadays has a limited accessories that have been made for iPads on the time of international launching there will be plenty for you to choose on.

    2. More Apps – There are only few apps develop for iPads, I’m sure at the International launching there will be plenty for you to downloads on app store.

3 More Time to save – and choose the expensive specs for ipads when international launching comes.
